(More customer reviews)The old National No. 7 canners last forever. This ring and the pressure relief valve are all that is needed every few years to keep them going. When you get the ring, oil it well with vegetable oil and do not be concerned that it seems too long at first. The repeated heating of the system causes the seal to shrink a bit. If it starts to not seal quite as well, take it out, oil it again and put it back in with the other side up.
