It browns, steams, bakes and cooks, and then it keeps your food warm until you're ready to serve it. Our family of 5 liked the idea of a crock pot, but the Chef 'n Go is MUCH better - the food has perfect texture and flavor, and you can brown meats before adding other ingredients. It also holds enough food to feed our 3 eternally hungry teenage boys. It is intuitive to use, easy to clean, and we use ours at least 3 timesz a week. We saw one demonstrated on a morning news show, and were impressed enough to buy one for ourselves. I'm very glad we did!
