I searched the web to find the proper replacement for my very old mirro pressure cooker. The sites I visted assured me this was the right one. However, it is NOT. Now what to do with a useless sealing ring... perhaps bite the bullet and buy a new pressure cooker, this size, and then have a backup to replace it when it wears out in 30 years?

The lid doesn't stay on during cooking, allowing moisture to enter from the pressure cooker when I was steaming a bread pudding. The plastic material imparted a flavor to the pudding. I threw away the silicon container and the pudding. WIsh I hadn't bought it. I have a similar Pyrex one that works great. I will stick to glass and rigid containers with lids that stay on.

This is a good canning pot you can even order the rack witch is quality also.I would recommend this to friends and other buyers. This is made of a thick gauge metal not a thin one that's not going to hold up to weight of heavy jars and water, handles are well made lid is tight and heavy for the price its a good buy considering how long these pots last.

Chef's Design Reversible Hard-Coat Anodized Double Burner Grill/Griddle Review

Chef's Design Reversible Hard-Coat Anodized Double Burner Grill/Griddle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this griddle over 8 years ago for $39. It has been very useful with my electric stove for making many pancakes, burgers, grilled cheese, etc. I can cook 5-6 pancakes at a time, burgers & buns together, 4 grilled cheese sandwiches. Unlike the non-stick model 3560 also listed on this site, you can use this over high heat without any damage to it. Unlike the other review, I don't find it hard to clean. Over time, it retains some darkness of color (reminds me of cast iron), but it is not as heavy nor do you have the rust issues. Cleanup is easy with my blue Scotch-Brite multi-purpose scrub sponge. I'm planning on buying one for my sister and was delighted to find the same griddle available.

Alpha Electric Igniter Portable Propane Gas Stove Range Camping Review

Alpha Electric Igniter Portable Propane Gas Stove Range Camping

I read some of the reviews about this burner and I was somewhat nervous about purchasing. I hunted for something similar, but all searches lead me back to this model. The burner is well made, quite heavy metal, and worked fabulously. The starter kicked in the flame each time, although I did have a long lighter handy in case. I used this burner to prepare paella on my new 15" paella pan. I loved it. Heavy duty, worked well for me, was easy to light and control the flame... I am glad I took a chance on this one!

Granite Ware 3-Piece 33-Quart Crab and Crawfish Cooker with Steamer and Drainer Insert
Average Reviews:

This is a huge pot! Great for Maryland steamed crabs. Pot is almost too big for the stove - but works great on a propane burner outside. Crabs do steam a little faster because of all the holes in the insert pot. Also, clean-up is a challenge because it's big for the kitchen sink, but finish/granite ware does clean-up well. Great value.

Simmering on our big gas range has been an ongoing challenge...the Kuhn Rikon Energy 9-1/2-Inch Saver/Flame Protector test run for 2 hours of simmering of the St. Patrick's Day corned beef and cabbage was the first time we've actually been able to maintain a simmer rather than a full rolling boil! It makes the most wonderful rices.
Our favorites are GABA, and plain brown rice. Before this my children hated brown rice!

Cuckoo Rice Cooker | CRP-HF0610F (Ivory/Red) Review

Cuckoo Rice Cooker | CRP-HF0610F (Ivory/Red)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned several high-tech rice cookers, but this one is my first pressure type cooker, and it uses induction heating. My last rice cooker was the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 Neuro Fuzzy 6-cup model, which served me well for many years.
The Cuckoo HF0610F is a fairly big and heavy for a 6-cup rice cooker, bigger than my old Zojirushi. It's very solid feeling; the lever on the top is for sealing the pressure mechanism. The feature layout of the Cuckoo is not very intuitive and the english instructions are badly translated, making the unit a bit confusing to operate. For example, the difference between "Glutinous" and "Sushi" settings; from the manual:
"Glutinous : When you want to have sticky and nutritive white rice.
Sushi: When you want to have a little more sticky and nutritive
white rice than Glutinous rice."
What does this mean? I'm not sure!
There seem to be too many features and settings to deal with, none of which are explained very well in the manual (eg soak time, heat time). It's also fairly loud, compared to the non pressure cookers I've used before. The cooker makes a loud hissing noise when releasing steam; this happens for about 5 minutes during mid-cook cycle, and once at the end when the rice is almost ready. Also, there is no porridge (congee) setting, which I miss.
If you can look past the shortcomings, the unit makes great rice, and pretty fast. Brown rice comes out much better than it did with my Zojirushi. Brown rice can be cooked in one of two ways: GABA, or Brown/mixed. As far as I can tell, GABA rice is sprouted brown rice, basically. The setting allows you to have the rice soak for a set amount of time (4-16 hours) before cooking, so that it germinates, making a more nutritious rice (?). Otherwise I'm not sure how the GABA preset does anything differently than the mixed/brown setting. One thing you'll notice is that the amount of water specified is pretty much the same for whatever kind of rice or grain you're cooking. My old Zojirushi had different lines on the pot for different kinds of rice, to specify more water for brown rice for example. So, when it comes to adding more or less water, you're on your own. I think the pressure functionality of the cooker might take care of this though, because I never had a problem as long as I filled up the pot to the specified line regardless of white or brown rice. Possibly with pressure cooking, more of the water gets into the rice rather than escaping as steam during the longer cooking time for brown rice. My Zojirushi on brown rice setting usually produced slightly mushy rice. This unit does not. The brown rice comes out having quite discernible individual grains, but still tender and soft to eat.

Chef's Design 19-Inch Double Burner Griddle Review

Chef's Design 19-Inch Double Burner Griddle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The first time I used this griddle was the first time I've successfully turned out huge, perfectly browned pancakes that did not stick to the pan. One coat of Pam (recommended by the manual) glided me through a full batch of cakes. You can't use high heat with this griddle, and it takes about 10 minutes to heat up on medium. Next time I'll plan ahead so I won't be impatiently waiting around, flicking water at it every 30 seconds. Clean up was a breeze. Highly recommended!

Ball Jar Collection Elite Stainless-Steel 21-Quart Waterbath Canner with Rack and Glass Lid Review

Ball Jar Collection Elite Stainless-Steel 21-Quart Waterbath Canner with Rack and Glass Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I stumbled upon this when searching for a "flat bottom" water bath canner for making dill pickles...it was recommended on a blog somewhere. I hesitated since I had never heard of "Jarden" brand, but then realized it was made by "Ball" of the mason jar fame.
The pot is a heavy bottom bot that sits flat on my glass cooktop. I checked the owners manual for my range and it stated I could can on top of it as long as the pot was flat and it did not extend too far over the edge of the burner. CHECK YOUR MANUAL to be certain, or call the company...not worth it to screw up the sensors on your stove, or damage the material.
The see-through glass is really handy for visual monitoring and it's well made. Stunning stainless steel takes us out of the stone age in water bath canners. I am very pleased.

The Bayou Classic 10 PSI stainless steel braided hose is a safe and great product. Before purchasing this through Amazon.com,I searched for a replacement hose at Lowes,Home Depot, and several sporting good stores, and could not find a suitable replacement. I used up a lot of time and gasoline. This product is safer and will last longer than the usual rubber hose type.Ordering through Amazon.com was quick, easy, and sent to my front door. The 10 PSI Braided hose gives me plenty of heat to the burner, and the 30 inch long hose is a perfect distance from the bottle.Thank you.

My girlfriend's King Kooker fish cooker is about fifteen years old and the regulator had started to leak. None of the local stores carry it, but fortunately all things are available on Amazon. Overall this is better than the one it replaces with a better adjustment knob and the newer POV style connector. I gave it only four stars because the length is a bit shorter than the older one.

Hawkins 10 Liter Stainless Steel Cooker Review

Hawkins 10 Liter Stainless Steel Cooker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I actually have the 6 liter or 6.5 quart stainless steel version of this pressure cooker, which is no longer listed for some reason. I narrowed my choices down to the Hawkins and the Kuhn Rikon brands, since they had the best reviews with the least negatives like usability and durability problems. I've had a number of medium quality pressure cookers in the past that failed from falling apart or wearing out their o-ring seals every year, so I wanted a quality one this time. The Kuhn Rikon was about $200, so I bought the Hawkins, which I am happy with.
It's very popular in India, probably because it lasts forever and it's very energy efficient. Once it reaches full pressure I drop the heat from 10 down to a 3. It also uses almost no water, so you can use a minimum of liquid without it going dry on you. It is also safe in case of overpressure. If you do mess up and blow it up, it will release pressure below the handle, so you won't get injured or make a mess of your ceiling. It is very easy/convenient to use and it has a five year warranty, which you aren't likely to use. It appears very rugged. It has a thick completely flat bottom for even cooking on any cooking surface including flat top electric stoves.
There are some potential negatives. It does have a very narrow diameter for it's size because it is tall and narrow. It also has a lip at the top that reduces the usable width and bowls you can insert for cooking to 6.5 inches wide on my 6 liter cooker. I have a small pyrex bowl that fits perfectly for very modest size portions. If you expect to use larger bowls, you'll be disappointed. You also lose a few inches of volume at the top because you have to insert the lid at a steep angle inside the top before seating it underneath the top lip by design. You shouldn't be filling the pressure cooker more than 2/3 full anyway for safety reasons on any pressure cooker, though. You won't have much luck ordering special parts or inserts. The USA Hawkins support doesn't know anything about it. You'll have to go through India. The top lip does make it impossible to completely dry out by hanging upside down, but you can just shake it a little to get most of the water out and let the rest evaporate in the cupboard. There was a big hole in the box it arrived in but the pressure cooker was undamaged. The book manual is very cheaply made and some pages fell out of it immediately upon first opening but these complaints are minor.
I'm very happy with it since I was looking for an easy to use and very reliable stainless steel pressure cooker without paying a fortune.

ensemble Stay or Go 5 Quart Slow Cooker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I made the mistake of giving my 13 year old Rival slow cooker to my grandaughter before I bought a new 3 quart Rival. Boy does that Rival boil the food on Low. Discouraged and thinking I was going to give up on slow cookers I decided to try another one. I carefully read all I could find on Hamilton Beach's 5 quart cookers. Decided on this one and I am very happy. cooked a 3 lb rump roast and was delighted with the results. My grown son raved on the flavor, etc. It was done sooner than expected, probably because the pot was not filled to 3/4. Next time I will add more veggies. I love the seal around the lid and the two vent holes. The pot is easy to clean and the color is really pretty. I would recommend this cooker to anyone. But remember do NOT lock the lid down while cooking. The locking thingamajig is for transporting only.
