(More customer reviews)These pressure gauges do not require a nut to hold them in place although Presto supplies one with the gauge. They can be screwed into the rubber grommet in the lid of the pressure cooker. Screw it in carefully and do NOT try to tighten (this will wear the rubber grommet and limit its useful life). Stop when the gauge is flush with the rubber grommet. Make sure no steam escapes around the gauge stem when the unit is cooking. If steam escapes around the gauge stem, it isn't screwed in correctly. If you want to use the nut (a good idea), use a flat washer with the nut to secure the gauge against the grommet. The overpressure plug in the lid should take care of severe overpressure conditions.
